Dubai-UAE: 08 March, 2017 – As part of sustained efforts to share its expertise with the local community and highlight key aspects of the finance sector, Noor Bank recently participated in a student outreach event at the Winchester School in Jebel Ali. The GEMS Education school invited Sami Al Awadi, Chief Compliance Officer at Noor Bank, to share his expertise with Grade 10 students.
Al Awadi talked about his role at Noor Bank, as well as his previous experience as a police and CID officer. He also provided students with a brief overview of the banking industry in the UAE and explained how banks generate profits and help customers. At the end of a lively and interactive session, he encouraged the students to believe in themselves and set the bar high in everything they do.
Speaking on the initiative, Sami Al Awadi said: “It was a pleasure to participate in this community-focused event. The students showed great enthusiasm and keenness to pursue fulfilling careers. I hope my contribution will prove to be valuable and my insights will guide them towards success in whichever careers they choose.”
For her part, Dr. Ritika Anand, Vice-Principal, Winchester School, said: “A strong and instant connection was established with the students. They were extremely responsive to him, which is not so common coming from a person from a totally different and unique professional background. The students were absolutely enthralled. It was a pleasure to have Mr. Sami visit our school and motivate our students.”
The discussion was part of Winchester School’s Growth Mindset initiative that invites experienced professional speakers with the aim of empowering students to always believe in themselves and motivate them to achieve excellence.
